The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints' (aka Mormon or LDS) genealogical site has a search engine that looks through records of over 35 million names in its Ancestral File, over 360 million names in the International Genealogical Index (Britain, North America, and Finland), and the Family History Library Catalog with records from more than 2 millions rolls of microfilm, as well as thousands of indexed Web sites.

Volunteers for the U.S. are listed by state and then county.    For the rest of the world, they are grouped by country or continent.  The areas the volunteer covers and the resources available are listed along with the volunteer's name and e-mail address so the volunteer can be contacted directly.

The USGenWeb Project also sponsors important Special Projects at the national level and this website provides an entry point to all of those pages, as well.  Run by volunteers.
